A MAN sustained injuries to his leg and face during an assault in east Belfast on Friday afternoon..
The 48-year-old victim was attacked by a man with a baseball bat in Tower Street off the Newtownards Road shortly after 2.15pm.
Police say the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
The attacker is described as being approximately 5’8” tall and wearing a black hooded coat with a scarf over his face.
A PSNI spokesperson appealed for information.
Alliance councillor Maire Hendron said: “I am shocked that somebody would carry out such a vicious assault in broad daylight in a busy street.
“The person behind this attack is a callous individual with no regards for the well being of others,” she added.
