INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into the cause of a fire which claimed the lives of a mother and daughter in Dungannon.
Elizabeth McGirr, 71, and her 38-year-old daughter Deirdre McGirr were killed after the blaze engulfed the flat in the Dunlea Vale estate in the town on Saturday night.
A man aged in his 30s escaped injury in the tragedy, which happened at around 10pm.
The cause of the fire has still not been established as police officers continued their investigation.
However, a PSNI spokesman urged anyone who noticed “any unusual activity” in the area to come forward.
Witnesses described the fire as an “unstoppable blaze”.
