HOUSE hunters could be in for a bargain if the latest batch of auction estimates is anything to go by.
Among the properties on offer in Carryduff tonight is a six-bedroom semi-detached villa in a leafy suburb of north Belfast.
According to Belfast City Auctions, the three-storey Bristol Avenue property would have sold for around £650,000 only four years ago. It is now expected to sell for between £100,000 and £130,000.
The Comber Road auction house is selling 25 properties on the night, from 7pm, with the promise that no reasonable offer will be refused.
Michael Tomalin, managing director of Belfast City Auctions, said the increasing number of property auctions is no surprise given their success in matching buyers and sellers.
“Notably we’ve had many auction registrations from first-time buyers — those who had been previously priced out of the market-place,” he said.
“For first-time buyers there has never been a better opportunity to get a foot on the property ladder with houses at a fraction of their former worth.”
Other eye-catching lots under the hammer include a three-bedroom mid-terrace off the Shankill Road with a guide price of £14,000 and a large, four-bedroom detached family home with a paddock area in Ballymoney for £150,000.
