The First and Deputy First Ministers are travelling to the US this week to promote trade with Northern Ireland.

Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness will meet senior business executives for confidential talks to identify and develop potential inward investment opportunities.

The First Minister said: “Growing the Northern Ireland economy is a key priority in our Programme for Government and the Executive is committed to securing foreign direct investment from across the world.

“During this visit to the USA we will be having key meetings with influential figures and we intend to use every opportunity to promote the benefits of economic investment in Northern Ireland and deliver the message that Northern Ireland is a prime location in which to invest.”

He said Northern Ireland enjoys a growing global reputation for quality products and services.

The Deputy First Minister said: “Our biggest asset is our people. We have a skilled workforce with strong links between businesses and third-level education.

“Our universities have the impressive ability to tailor courses to meet industry requirements and match the needs of foreign direct investors. This is a key factor when overseas companies consider setting up their operations here.”
