DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Hillsborough man six years ago have arrested two men, only hours after issuing a fresh appeal for information.
Ronald Todd, 30, was last seen leaving the Maghaberry Arms pub near Lisburn at around 8pm on December 21, 2005.
His body was discovered on this day in 2006 in the River Lagan close to Governor’s Bridge in south Belfast.
His red Land Rover Freelander had been found on fire at Green Road outside Lisburn on December 22.
The PSNI confirmed on Tuesday that two men - aged 32 and 44 - were assisting police with their inquiries.
A number of people have been arrested during the police investigation but no one has ever been charged in connection with Mr Todd’s murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Karen Baxter from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch is leading the investigation.
She said: “Ronald Todd suffered a brutal death, having been beaten and bound before being dumped into the river. No one deserves to die in such a way.
“Those responsible are still at large and it is essential that anyone with information about the murder gives that information to police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 028 9070 0303. Alternatively, anyone who does not want to give their details can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and provide information anonymously on 0800 555 111.
At the time of his disappearance Ronald Todd lived with his partner and eight-month-old son.
