CLAIMS by the DUP that victims campaigner Willie Frazer was ejected from Stormont by security staff have been contradicted by the Assembly administration.

Yesterday it was reported by media that Ulster People’s Forum (UPF) spokesman Mr Frazer had been ejected from Stormont after directing verbal abuse at DUP minister Arlene Foster.

The DUP said that whilst at Stormont on Monday Mr Frazer was greeted by Mrs Foster as they passed in the corridor.

“However, as she moved away she was the subject of a range of verbal abuse,” the DUP said.

“Upon challenging Mr Frazer about the impact his actions were having on Northern Ireland, his response was blunt – ‘I don’t care’.”

The DUP said the incident was witnessed by others who, “fearing for Mrs Foster’s safety, proceeded to inform members of the doorkeeping staff who escorted Mr Frazer from the building”.

However, Mr Frazer said his reply was: “I don’t care what you think.”

He said a nearby security guard asked them to keep the shouting down.

“I said I was not the only one shouting, and he said ‘I know’. But I was not escorted anywhere.”

He said: “I am calling for an immediate end to all street violence.”

He added that the UPF would not meet the DUP until it had consulted with all protest groups.

An Assembly spokeswoman said ushers “direct and escort all visitors as required. Yesterday Mr Frazer was directed to the Great Hall by an Assembly usher”.
