THE condition of a two-year-old child hit by an unoccupied car which rolled into him is worsening in hospital.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after an unoccupied parked car rolled into a woman and the toddler.

The two-year-old child is in a critical condition in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital after the incident on the outskirts of Belfast yesterday and at 1pm on Sunday the hospital said that his condition was worsening.

The car, which was parked on the Comber Road in Dundonald, struck the woman and child, who was in a buggy, at around 4pm.

The woman was treated in hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The arrested man was later released on bail pending further police inquiries.

Police have urged witnesses to contact them.
