Ulster Bank has moved to reassure customers that late payments on Friday are not connected to the glitch earlier in the year which saw thousands of customers left unable to access their accounts for weeks.
A number of customers told the News Letter payments had not been processed on Friday, causing concern that another computer problem may be to blame.
But a spokeswoman for Ulster Bank said the delayed payments were due to the bank’s extra holiday over Christmas, with staff returning to work on Friday - a day later than their counterparts in the rest of the UK.
She added that anyone experiencing difficulties can contact their local branch and said all payments should be processed by Saturday.
