North Belfast DUP councillor Guy Spence and SDLP MLA Conal McDevitt have both been issued with death threats.
The pair are the latest in a line of Northern Ireland political representatives to be subject to a threat amid continuing unrest over the removal of the Union flag from Belfast City Hall.
Mr Spence was defiant about the threat against him.
“Those who hide away and issue threats are not only terrorists, but cowards also,” he said. “I put myself before the people of Belfast and received their support and a mandate to represent them.
“I will continue with that task and will not be deterred by thugs who believe they can usurp the democratic process.”
Conall McDevitt MLA said the warning against him had been posted.
“The police are investigating a specific threat against me,” said the MLA. “This will not deter me from representing the people of South Belfast and working for an inclusive, peaceful and prosperous society.”
SDLP leader Alasdair McDonnell said the threat was “a cowardly, cynical act”.
He added: “The whole of the SDLP stands in solidarity with Conall.”
Meanwhile, the office of DUP Assembly member William Irwin in Richhill has been attacked, with windows smashed and paint daubed on the property.
“Whilst this incident does not compare to some of the other disgraceful attacks and threats on elected representatives, it is an attack on the democratic process nonetheless,” said Mr Irwin.
The threats and disorder come as loyalists have been protesting over the decision by Belfast City Council to reduce the number of days the flag flies.
An unemployed father of four from east Belfast was remanded in custody on Thursday after being charged with making a death threat to First Minister Peter Robinson. East Belfast Alliance Party MP Naomi Long has received a death threat from loyalists, while senior Democratic Unionists Jeffrey Donaldson and Edwin Poots have also been informed of threats, apparently from dissident republicans, after speaking out in favour of flying the flag.
