IT seems the world is becoming a less romantic place.
According to new research 80 per cent of couples go to sleep without kissing each other goodnight because they are so focused on getting to sleep and 90 per cent don’t bother to say I love you. Forty-six per cent said they sleep with their backs to their partner but psychologists claim this is a good sign, as a back-to-back sleeping position shows trust and innocence and body language can’t be faked in sleep Once the first flush of passion is over in a relationship (apparently nature intended this to last for the first 18 months of becoming romantic to ensure we mate) then sleeping in the buff and entwined in each other’s arms vanishes and the attempt to have a good night’s sleep dominates. Only one per cent of 2000 couples surveyed said they go to sleep like in the romantic movies, with a man on his back and the woman’s head on his chest. After a few minutes this has to be the most uncomfortable sleeping postion in the world! Most couples get into a habit of how they like to sleep depending on what suits them and according to this survey it’s a case of lights out and a one way trip to the Land of Nod for most as romance is forgotten in search of sweet dreams.
