Man arrested in murder probe

A 23-year-old man has, been arrested by detectives from PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch in connection with the murder of Danny McKay in Newtownabbey.

Mr McKay, 36, was shot dead in his living room in the Longlands area by at least two gunmen on Thursday 25 October

The man arrested in the North Belfast area today has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Three men who had been arrested as part of the probe were released on Monday night.

Two of the men, a 41-year-old and a 50-year-old, were arrested on Saturday. A 28-year-old was arrested on Sunday.

Detectives have been examining a possible drugs link and the possibility of dissident republican involvement.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a silver coloured Volkswagen Bora registration KLZ 9787 on the day of the murder to get in touch. Detectives are also keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a dark coloured saloon car being driven in a suspicious manner in the Longlands area of Newtownabbey in the days leading up to Mr McKay’s murder.
