THE completion of the digital switchover mean only those who have taken measures to ensure they have the right equipment will be able to watch TV.
This equipment could include a new TV which has digital hardware built into it, or a set-top for an old TV which would allow it to receive the new signal.
Regardless of whether viewers were already getting digital TV, they still have to retune their sets today.
Viewers of satellite and cable TV are unaffected by the changes.
There will be help points set up across the Province today and Thursday, at Belfast City Hall, Londonderry’s Guildhall, the recreation centre next to Ballycastle council offices, and also at the following libraries: Newry, Downpatrick, Enniskillen, Cookstown and Larne.
And the number of channels viewers can receive for free depends on where they live.
If they receive signals from a main mast (of which there are three) they could get up to 40.
If they receive it from a “relay transmitter” (of which there are 43) they may only get 15.
